Beginner-Friendly American Mahjong Open Play - September 29th, 2026 Tuesday Evening

Ready to play and get more practice at the table? Our Open Play is a welcoming space for players who already know the basics of American Mahjong and can play a game independently. Beginners are absolutely welcome! You do not need to be an experienced or fast player. This is a mixed-level social play environment where newer players can practice alongside other players and continue building confidence. Light guidance is available if you have an occasional question or need a quick reminder, but this is not a fully guided game. Players should be comfortable setting up, completing the Charleston, choosing and playing a hand, and following the basic flow of the game without continuous instruction. Still need help working through your hand or making decisions throughout the game? Our Mahjong 101 Play Workshop is the better fit. The workshop provides much more hands-on guidance while you play and is specifically designed to help newer players transition from Mahjong 101 into independent play. Not sure where you belong? Mahjong 101 Class → I'm still learning how to play. Mahjong 101 Play Workshop → I know the basics, but I still need guidance while I play. Beginner-Friendly Open Play → I can play independently, but I'm still practicing and may need a little help here and there.
